In addition, our finishing services are second to none. Your final product will be expertly trimmed and finished to your satisfaction, including edges, corners and all aesthetic details.
Prototypes to Volume Production
With our vacuum forming and other custom plastic fabrication capabilities, we can take a customer’s unique design for an item in plastic, work with the customer to select the best plastics material for the job, then fabricate a prototype and bring the item to full-volume production.
Plas-Tech Fab has more than 50 years of plastic fabrication, vacuforming, thermoforming and precision machining experience and exceptional material knowledge. We are able to advise customers to optimize their plastics designs and to select the ideal plastic materials for each job. We specialize in complex and high-quality custom plastic fabrication, making us the go-to fabricators for tough and mission-critical plastic fabrication jobs.
We work closely with North American customers to fabricate, vacuum form and precision machine their designs in a wide range of synthetic materials.
About Vacuum Forming for Precision Plastic Fabrication
Vacuum forming is a type of thermoforming process. A sheet of plastic is heated so that it can be shaped by stretching and pressing it over a mold. Next, a vacuum is applied to form the plastic sheet tightly over the plastic mold. Once cooled, a reverse air supply is used to release the part from the mold.
Some advantages of vacuforming include lower cost tooling and economical fabrication of large-size moldings. Lower-cost materials can be used and fabrication time is reasonably short. It is ideal for prototypes and low-quantity products.
Some of the plastics that we vacuform at Plas-Tech Fabrications include polystyrene sheeting, Kydex, ABS and others. This is a popular plastic fabrication process to manufacture aircraft interiors, louvers, molding, light lenses and other products as listed above.
Our automatic PlastiVac Vacuum Former is a single-heat system with fan delay, air eject and blow-off. With this system and our materials expertise, we are able to accommodate custom applications of all types.
